How long have I been saying I wanted to start a coffee business? Years and years. And all that talk finally...
These are my blisters from IronMan.
So we drove up to pikes peak. Sounded like a good idea at the time. Terrifying. Brandon had to get out halfway up and we left him behind at a gift...
It was only two miles, but that’s better than zero miles.
My back held up alright. We’ll see how it feels in the morning.
A lot of poor dietary...
So I finished but I am worn out. I don’t think I’ll be going to outback tonight.
A great race!
If I’m missing any other races - my apologies. Hope that your race is great too!
After the week we’ve had in Boston, I need to go get my run on. This video and song definitely fit the bill this morning.
Time to ‘run, run, run away.’ Make it a great weekend gang!

I’ve got a 3.5 mile run in the morning and then a 90 minute Crossfit foundations class.
The run will be good. I’m doing the 30 week, über slow, Higdon novice marathon supreme program. Why? I’ve got no base right now and I’m in no rush. In some regards it seems painfully slow (and by slow I mean how the mileage increases)).
But seriously, what’s my rush? I’ve got no races planned and I want to take my time and keep this temple healthy.
And then there crossfit. It still intimidates me but it’s largely my ego. I’m amazingly weak at this point in my life. If I were wired differently I’d probably be angry about it. When I think about the amount of weight I could squat, bench, press, or curl in the past and how little I can do right now - it could do a number on the mind.
But that was a long time ago. I don’t need to be first. I just need to be the best me that I can be. And I need to be consistent and have some discipline, which is an area that always trips me up.
Push-ups are rough now. As are burpees. And yeah, pull-ups are likely not happening for a while. But that’s ok. I’ve been tracking my food and physical activity for months now and finally have a clue.
So yeah. This is all good.
So this just happened. Looks like I’ll be back to CrossFit. Time to bring sexy back.
In addition to that marathon training thing.
And so it begins.
Since it’s been awhile since I’ve run (always run) I’m using Higdon’s Marathon Supreme training program. I focused these past few months on getting weight off of me and now it’s time to re-focus on running.
This plan will put me on track to complete a marathon November 3, which is pretty much spot on for NYC. I had deferred my 2012 NYC registration but then after Sandy I ended up just requesting a refund.
So, not too sure that I will get in on the lottery this time. If not, I plan on investigating some of the charity options that could get me in there.
And if that seems a little too onerous (read: pricey) then I’ll find another run somewhere. I’m flexible.
Feels really good to have a schedule - even if there isn’t a definite race on the calendar for me just yet.
